Kerry full-back dies of pneumonia after All-Ireland.

Murphy pays ultimate price

Jack Murphy died in November 1926 at the age of 22. The full-back from Cahirciveen played in the All-Ireland final against Kildare which finished level. Murphy played well but apparently put his clothes on over his Kerry uniform after the game. On Wednesday, selector Eugene Ring noticed Murphy was in pain and sent him to hospital where he died of pneumonia. Kerry still won the replay.
