1983 12 Apostles win unholy final

Posted by Editor
Sunday 18 September 1983

Dublin beat Galway as four men see red.

Barney Rock scored what was a crucial goal early in the first half but the game will forever be remembered for the four red cards handed out. Brian Mullins, Ciaran Duff and Ray Hazley of Dublin and Tomás Tierney of Galway were sent to the line in a bad-tempered affair as Dublin’s 12 Apostles held out against a Galway side unable to take advantage of their personnel advantage. A bitter final.
